Illuminate 12-11-13

December 11, 2013

During this time of year, we know that many of you are reviewing fall assessments, entering report cards, meeting with parents, and implementing Common Core strategies. As such, we hope the resources in this newsletter is timely. We also wanted to remind you to mark your calendars and register for the Illuminate User Conference in San Diego, CA (Feb. 6-7, 2014) where we will have a strong focus on all things Common Core.

What's New?
  • v6.5 released: Added search box to custom report widget on the student profile, ability to add attributes (e.g. DOK, Bloom's) to the teacher booklet for an itembank assessment, add blank lines for constructed response items, control panel setting defaults, and more!
  • Illuminate Report Card: Monthly report card straight from our support desk to find out about recent usage and support statistics.

Tips and Tricks
  • For parent-teacher conferences: Did you know you can customize and generate a PDF with multiple student profile reports for printing? Have you used the Parent Letter from an assessment?
  • Are you having trouble finding an assessment? Clear your filters and simply type in the assessment title in the search box. Find out more tips in this video.
  • Did you miss one of our many FREE webinars over the summer/early Fall? View the recorded webinars to catch up! Learn about report cards, custom reports, student groups and more!
  • Illuminate U is for YOU! Access self-paced tutorials for just-in-time learning.

Common Core Spotlight

Looking for a starting point to tackle the common core? Why not start with teaching your students a college and career ready skill like how to construct viable arguments, evaluate claims, and critique the reasoning of others (CCSS.Math.Practice.MP3 and CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.R.8).

Take advantage of your access to the Illuminate itembank and online testing to build assessments that measure a higher depth of knowledge with constructed response items. To learn more, check out:

Make sure to also visit the SBAC and PARCC sites for sample items.
