2015-2016 PROPOSED BUDGET HEARING
The Governing Board of the Barstow Unified School District will hold a public hearing on the 2015-2016 proposed budget of the District for the year ending June 30, 2016 prior to the final adoption as required by Education Code Section 42103.
The public hearing will be held on June 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room, located at 551 South Avenue H, Barstow, CA 92311.
The budget can be inspected by the public beginning June 1, 2015 during the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Barstow Unified School District (District Office), located at 551 South Avenue H, Barstow, CA 92311.

NEW REQUIREMENT FOR THE 2015-16 BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING
The new requirement requires the following information at the public hearing for the 2015-16 budget adoption at the Barstow Unified School District:
A. Minimum reserve level required for the budget and subsequent two years:
* 2015-16: $1,795,587
* 2016-17: $1,811,265
* 2017-18: $1,825,969
B. Amount of unrestricted assigned and unassigned ending fund balance that exceeds the minimum in the budget and subsequent two years:
* 2015-16: $9,625,649
* 2016-17: $6,864,866
* 2017-18: $4,373,989
C. Reason for the reserve being greater than the minimum:
* 2015-16: Manage cash flow, implement the new textbook adoption, reduce the class room size, reduce the number of comp classes, address STRS & PERS obligations in the future years provide additional dual immersion classes and mitigate the impact of declining enrollment.
* 2016-17: Manage cash flow, reduce the number of combo classes, reduce class size, address STRS & PERS obligations in future years, mitigate the impact of declining enrollment and plan for the start-up of K-6 Fine Arts Academy.
* 2017-18: Manage cash flow, reduce class size and the number of combo classes and mitigate the impact of declining enrollment, address STRS & PERS obligations in the future years and compensate for the opening of the new school K-6 Fine Arts Academy.
