CBAADA ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS: The Citrus Belt Area Athletic Director’s Association provides scholarships annually to senior student-athletes from Southern California Inland area high schools.  This year there are TEN $500 scholarships available!  The application includes an essay.  For complete details, and the application, check out: the “Career Center” section of the BHS website and scroll down to the “Resource Box” or see Ms. Willetts in the Career Center.   Application deadline: April 22, 2016.

 

LAMBDA THETA NU SORORITY, INC. LATINA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: have established a National Latina Scholarship Fund with the goal of assisting high school women pursue their educational goals. Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. members raise funds to provide scholarships to Latina High School students that exemplify our ideals. To be eligible, you must:

·         Must be a female of Latino Heritage or be able to demonstrate dedication to community service and empowerment of the Latina/o community.

·         Must be a graduating senior in High School.

·         Must be attending an accredited 4-year college or university program as a first year student by Fall of 2016.

RUTH MALDONADO “FINISH THE RACE” SCHOLARSHIP:  You must have at least a 3.0 or higher GPA and a two-page typed essay about your greatest struggle.  For more details, and the application, check out: the “Career Center” section of the BHS website and scroll down to the “Resource Box” or see Ms. Willetts in the Career Center.     Deadline: Turned in to Ms. Willetts in the Career Center by the end of the school day on May 4, 2016.

 

 

 

 

MOJAVE DESERT GEM & MINERAL SOCIETY:  The Mojave Desert Gem & Mineral Society has a program to provide scholarships to residents of the Barstow Community.  The application includes a 300-500 word essay.  Minimum Requirements are:

1.      Applicant must reside in San Bernardino County.

2.     2. Must be a graduating high school senior or college, university, or graduate school student.

3.     3. Must be pursuing a degree and/or career in earth sciences, lapidary arts, or other related fields at an accredited college or university

4.     Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

5.     Enroll in one class of Earth Science of their choice.

6.     Scholarship recipients must reapply each year.

The application is available on the “Career Center” section of the BHS website, (scroll down to the “Resource Box”), or see Ms. Willetts in the Career Center.     Deadline: due to the Scholarship Chairperson by May 15 (address is on the application).

 

THE CA LEGISLATIVE BLACK CAUCUS (CLBC) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: was established to assist deserving students by offering financial assistance to help meet educational expenses.  The CLBC California Scholars program awards financial assistance scholarships to a select group of deserving students.

Requirements:

Scholarship candidates must be full-time freshman students in good academic standing at an accredited college or university.

Graduating high school seniors with written proof of acceptance at an accredited institution of higher learning are also eligible.

Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be considered for this scholarship.

UNIVERSITY TUTOR’S SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST: University Tutor holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write a short essay in response to a monthly prompt. The submitted essays are reviewed by University Tutor staff at the end of the month and one winner is chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest:  Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship.
